Egg in a Hole

 

Egg in a hole is a quick and playful start to your day. It is just bread, a touch of butter and an egg. Leave the eggs as runny or well-cooked as you prefer. And if you like jam, feel free to dab it all around the edges after cooking it up.

Ingredients

  • 1 slice whole wheat bread
  • 1 teaspoon butter, unsalted
  • 1 egg

Serving Size: 1 Person



 

Preparation Instructions

Cut a hole in the center of your bread. About the size of an egg yolk.

Place the bread in a skillet over medium heat. Drop the butter into the hole. When it starts sizzling and melting into the bread, crack the egg and slide the yolk into the hole. The white will billow a bit on top or all over the place. Let it cook for about a minute. Warm the center of the bread alongside.

With a spatula flip it over and cook on the other side. For 1-3 minutes depending on how cooked you like your egg.

Serve with the hole next to it on standby ready for dipping.
