Wild Rice

The hearty flavor of Wild Rice contributes as a high-fiber side dish to more rich dishes.

There are several methods for cooking Wild Rice. Use your favorite or try one of the methods listed.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup wild rice blend
  • cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon bouillon , optional

Serving Size: 2 People

Preparation Instructions

Steam Method:
Rinse the rice and place the water, salt and bouillon if using in a pot with a tight fitting lid. Cover and bring up to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 45 minutes until the rice is tender. Do not remove the lid until the very end. Remove from the heat and allow to sit for 10 minutes before serving.

Boil Method:
Rinse the rice and double the amount of water in the recipe. Place in a pot and bring up to a boil. Add the salt and bouillon and continue to boil for 35-45 minutes until the rice is tender. Strain off the excess liquid using a wire-mesh strainer, fluff and serve.
