Homemade Garlic Croutons

from Fresh Tomato Basil Pasta with Kale Caesar, the Week of June 24, 2012.
View the previous or next recipe for this meal.

Do you have bread that is a tad too old to enjoy anymore? Just slice it into chunks, toss with a bit of olive oil and toast until dry. They store great in your fridge for a couple of weeks or in the freezer for longer. Top them on salads or soups.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb french bread, loaf, day-old, cut into cubes
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic

Serving Size: 4 People

Preparation Instructions

Preheat the oven to 325.
Finely mince or smash the garlic with the salt. Whisk into the olive oil.

Toss the cubes of French bread with the garlic-oil on a baking sheet until each cube is mostly coated.

Bake for 10-15 minutes depending on the size of the cubes until they are crispy and toasted through.

Cool. Use within a couple of weeks. Store in the fridge or freezer for a fresher taste.
