California Cheeseburgers with Grilled Fries + Wedge Salad

Cut up the potatoes and start grilling. Prepare the Wedge Salad, but leave the dressing for the end. Patty up the burgers and place them on the grill. Prepare the remaining toppings and the bun. As the potatoes come off of the grill, keep them warm. Top the salad and burgers at the same time just before sitting down to eat them. Use gluten-free buns or lettuce wraps to make this meal GF.

Grilled Fries

We live in a society that loves fries. The thought of making them from scratch is pretty foreign to most of us, the thought of tossing them on the grill fresh may be a new experience for you. But, like so many things you never have done— you never know, it could blow your mind. Keep the grill low and the cook time slow and it will be all good. Plenty of salt and oil will help, too.

Wedge Salad

Classic, retro whatever you want to call it the Wedge Salad is just about the only way to eat Iceberg lettuce and that is why we love it. Iceberg is hardly known for its high-nutrients but rather it serves as a lovely vehicle for garden fresh tomatoes, yogurt-herb dressing, and a bit of bacon & cheese just tops it all off. Make your own dressing from scratch if you can- our recipe comes together quickly. Make this vegetarian, by skipping the bacon and adding salty nuts or extra cheese.

California Cheeseburgers

I always chuckle when “California” is used as an adjective for food. Often this means adding avocado other times it is simply “lettuce & tomato”. Really? Those items are not enjoyed in other parts of the world? But here I go, using it as an adjective. Feel free to substitute what California-style means to you, for me it includes avocados, tomatoes, lettuce, and sometimes watercress, sprouts or even sunflower seeds. Explore the possibilities you consider coming from the sunny state.
