Orange Broccolini

Simple, elegant and a bit divine, orange juice is reduced to a syrup and tossed with lightly steamed broccolini. The reduced orange juice is a lovely burnt amber, but using blood orange juice will create a deep magenta hue.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup orange juice, ideally freshly squeezed
  • 1 bunch broccolini
  • 1 tablespoon butter, unsalted, optional
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper

Serving Size: 2 People

Preparation Instructions

Place the orange juice in a small saucepan and bring up to a boil. Reduce to a simmer for about 10-15 minutes until reduced in half. Finish the sauce with a dollop of butter & pinch of salt. Swirl around until incorporated in the sauce.

Place the trimmed & washed broccolini in a skillet with a lid over high heat. Add a generous splash of water, sprinkle of salt and steam until tender to the bite. Depending on your preference this will take anywhere from 5-10 minutes… or more if you like it very tender.

Toss with the orange syrup, few grinds of fresh pepper and serve hot.
