Tofu Sticks

Lightly floured and seared sticks of tofu are great in a stir-fry or as an extra protein for many dishes. The sweet white rice mochiko flour works well here. But, any all-purpose flour will reasonably substitute.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces tofu, extra-firm , more or less
  • 3 tablespoons flour, mochiko rice flour or other all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, more if needed

Serving Size: 2 People

Preparation Instructions

Cut the brick of tofu into 1/2 inch slabs and then again into sticks, about 4-5 sticks per slab. Spread out on a towel and allow the excess liquid to absorb a bit into the cloth. Fold the towel over and bloat any excess liquid, too. Sprinkle the sticks with the salt.

Place the flour in a shallow dish. Warm the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Dip the tofu sticks into the flour, shaking to evenly distribute.

Lay into the oil and sear on each side for about 4-6 minutes until golden.

Add to any dish or munch on them as a snack with a fun dipping sauce.
