Recipe Detail

Fall

Tahini Sauce

from Falafels with Greek Salad & Tzatziki, the Week of September 30, 2012.
View the next recipe for this meal.

Sesame tahini is lightened up a bit with orange juice, which provides a tinge of sweetness and citrus all at once. For a tangier sauce, mix it with lemon juice and just enough water to thin it. Adjust the ratios of lemon juice to tahini to taste. Serve this as a dressing or dipping sauce. If you crave a bit extra flavor, whip in a clove of minced garlic.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup tahini
  • ¼ cup orange juice, or half the amount of lemon juice and a bit of water to thin the sauce
  • 1 pinch salt, if needed

Serving Size: 4 People

Preparation Instructions

Whisk together the sesame tahini paste with the orange juice. Add a pinch of salt and/or black pepper to taste if desired.

Alternatively, whisk the lemon juice with the tahini sauce and add water just a splash at a time until it is your desired thinness. Season with salt to taste.
