Strawberry-Banana Smoothie

from Strawberry Banana Smoothie & Strawberry Granola, the Week of May 8, 2016.
View the next recipe for this meal.

Combine the strawberry & bananas or make it into stripes, either way this is simple strawberry goodness. Plan on freezing your fruit for an extra creamy chilly smoothie. Make it dairy-free by using the cream top of coconut milk or make it higher in protein by using milk instead of juice.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana, cut into chunks & frozen
  • ½ lb strawberries
  • ½ cup greek yogurt, optional, or coconut cream
  • ¾ cup orange juice, milk or strawberry juice

Serving Size: 1 Person

Preparation Instructions

If your fruit is not quite frozen, cut into small chunks. Spread them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 10 minutes up to several days in advance.

In a blender, pour in a quarter of the juice or milk, add half of the greek yogurt or coconut cream and the bananas. Blend. Pour in more liquid as needed to get it smooth. If you are going for stripes, it is easier to get it thicker by using less liquid.

Repeat the same method with the frozen strawberries, using the remaining liquid and yogurt.

Spoon a dollop of each smoothie into a glass, alternating the flavors.
