California Cheeseburger with Grilled Sweet Potatoes & Yogurt Ranch

Prepare the sweet potatoes first. As soon as they hit the grill, shape the burgers and place alongside. While everything grills, prepare the toppings and whip up the Herb Yogurt Sauce. If the fries finish first, keep them warm on a cooler part of the grill. Serve altogether for a twist on the all-American dish.

Grilled Sweet Potato Fries

Grilling sweet potatoes on each side makes for an easy healthy ‘french fry’ to put along burgers and other fry worthy main dishes. Pair with your favorite dipping sauce, too.

California Cheeseburgers

I always chuckle when “California” is used as an adjective for food. Often this means adding avocado other times it is simply “lettuce & tomato”. Really? Those items are not enjoyed in other parts of the world? But here I go, using it as an adjective. Feel free to substitute what California-style means to you, for me it includes avocados, tomatoes, lettuce, and sometimes watercress, sprouts or even sunflower seeds. Explore the possibilities you consider coming from the sunny state.

Yogurt Herb Ranch Dressing

This easy dressing is an excellent substitute for chemical-dense ranch or buttermilk dressings or dips. Adding yogurt will increase the amount of good bacteria acidophilus in your dressing. Although, thick cultured buttermilk is a great substitute. If you want a thicker, ranch to dip, use greek yogurt or cultured sour cream instead. If using a fresh lemon, add the microplane grated lemon zest for a flavor boost. Use your favorite herbs that are available. If you are not a garlic lover, this is tasty enough without it.
