Grilled Okra

from Grilled Cajun Chicken & Okra with Watermelon Salad, the Week of July 22, 2012.
View the previous or next recipe for this meal.

Tired of slimy okra? Try grilling it instead! The smaller the okra the more tender it will be. Larger, older pieces of okra may have a woody texture, so reserve this method for the small ones.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb okra, washed and dried
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt, or more as needed

Serving Size: 2 People

Preparation Instructions

Heat a grill to medium. Take the washed & dried okra and rub it with the olive oil. Simply pour the olive oil into a shallow dish and toss the okra in it. Sprinkle with the salt.

Place on the grill and sear on each side for about 8-12 minutes depending on the size and thickness of the okra. For large okra (4 inches or larger), you may consider reducing the heat of the grill and allowing it to slowly cook. Serve hot.
