Sesame Crusted Tofu

from Asian Daikon Soup with Sesame Tofu & Red Chili Green Beans, the Week of November 3, 2013.
View the previous recipe for this meal.

Tofu is crusted and baked up for a simple addition to many Asian dishes.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces tofu, extra-firm
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce, wheat-free tamari, for gluten-free option
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Serving Size: 1 Person

Preparation Instructions

Preheat oven to 425.

Cut the tofu into large flat pieces. Place on a clean dish towel. Fold the towel over and press lightly to take out some of the excess liquid.

Drizzle a splash of soy sauce on to each piece of tofu.

Spread the sesame seeds in a shallow dish. Dip in the tofu pieces, pressing to adhere.

Lightly oil a baking sheet with a drizzle of sesame oil.

Dip the tofu into the oil, flip over and bake for 8 minutes. Flip each piece and continue to bake for another 5-8 minutes until golden on the edges.
