Cherry Walnut Smoothie

from Spinach Eggs and Cherry Walnut Smoothie, the Week of June 8, 2014.
View the next recipe for this meal.

Cherries and walnuts are such good friends that blending them together makes breakfast feel a bit more extravagant, although the protein from the nuts nicely balances the rest of the sweetness of the drink. Frozen fruit will yield a thicker chillier beverage. Make this vegan by substituting almond milk for the milk and yogurt in the recipe.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup milk, or almond milk
  • ½ cup plain yogurt, or more almond milk
  • ½ cup walnuts
  • 1 cup banana, frozen chunks
  • 1 cup cherries, pitted, fresh or frozen

Serving Size: 2 People

Preparation Instructions

Blend the milk, yogurt and walnuts until smooth. Add the frozen bananas, blend. Finish with the cherries, blend to your desired chunkiness or smoothness.
