Sweet Orange Sauce

from Panettone French Toast with Sweet Orange Sauce & Whipped Yogurt Cream, the Week of December 20, 2015.
View the previous or next recipe for this meal.

Orange juice is reduced down to a syrupy sauce perfect for pancakes, waffles and french toast, but also drizzled across savory meats and fish dishes. The butter mellows out the tang and an optional dab of honey will make the sauce even sweeter. Add more to taste. If using for a savory dish add a pinch of salt to taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter, unsalted
  • 1 pinch salt, optional, for savory dishes
  • 1 tablespoon honey, or maple syrup, optional, more or less to taste

Serving Size: 4 People

Preparation Instructions

Pour the orange juice into a skillet over high heat. Bring up to a boil and lower to a simmer until the orange juice is reduced in half.

Stir in the butter until melted. Add the salt and honey/maple syrup if using.
