The Food
Spring is my favorite time of year and when I discovered how deeply connected to spring the Jewish holiday of Passover can be, I got very excited about the dishes. While my family is not Jewish, many of our friends are, and I love this opportunity to teach my children about a different culture and faith through food. These dishes can be incorporated into your week or you can create your own mini Seder dinner, too.
For the Seder plate, several items can be incorporated into your meals including the Arugula Salad, Fig + Ginger Charoset, and of course plenty of Matzah in various forms and dishes.
The Matzah Ball Soup and Matzah Trout can be enjoyed on their own or as part of the greater meal.
Another stunning main dish is the Apricot Roasted Chicken. Select your main dish for your Seder meal and then mix and match the remaining sides including Sweet Potato + Carrot Tzimmes, Horseradish Beets, Carrot Top Carrots, and Dijon Asparagus.
Extras of the Apricot Roasted Chicken is lovely in the Apricot Pistachio Chicken Salad for lunches during the week.
Latkes, while big during Hannukah, can be whipped out during Passover as well especially with the seasonal turnips. The traditional Potato Latkes and Turnip Latkes come together nicely with the Smoked Trout Smoked Salmon, Capers and Creme Fraiche.
Breakfast, when matzah is lying around, is simple and scrumptious sweet was the Matzah Brei with Lemon + Sugar or savory with just Asparagus.
Happy Passover friends!
