Only Italy, the birth place of the Slow Food Movement would have a flag representing their favorite combo- tomatoes, basil, mozzarella. Sliced and pressed on to skewers makes it surprisingly more exciting. Find tomatoes that are a similar size to your ball of mozzarella.

Roasting causes a light caramelization in thin slices of acorn squash which are topped with a layer of golden onions & apples. This recipe uses the skin of the acorn squash, which becomes chewy and barely tender when roasted for an extended period of time.

Grapefruit halves are fairly common at breakfast buffets and brunches, but a light sprinkle of the sugar-spice mixture makes grapefruit pleasantly extraordinary. Next, they are lovely broiled until lightly caramelized or just room temperature. Serve any extra spiced sugar at the table or triple the mixture to have it on hand throughout the week.
