The Food

Week of November 16, 2014

On your mark, get set, it is Thanksgiving time! This week and next I will be sharing as many recipes as possible that make sense for the big day and for leftovers, too. Don’t forget to take advantage of your free membership gift of a customized Thanksgiving meal plan. Simply fill out this survey profile and give me 3-4 days to send back your very own unique to you meal plan, recipes and action plan.

Some of these dishes such as the Pecan Tilapia with Cranberry Cherry Syrah Sauce and Harvest Rice Salad are divine on their own earlier in the week, but the Cranberry Brined Turkey with Herb & Sausage Stuffing is most exclusive to T-Day. Remember to start brining the turkey about 12-24 hours prior.

For a vegan Thanksgiving, try the whole Cauliflower Roast with Caramelized Apple Acorn Squash with Caramelized Lemon & Pistachios Brussels Sprouts. Take leftovers of the Cauliflower Roast and whip up the Roasted Cauliflower Soup for the next day. Sometimes, I even make two roasts just so I can make the soup. Serve the soup with the Caramelized Onion, Apple & Hazelnuts.

While any of those would happily join a Thanksgiving table, here are some more traditional side dishes not to be missed: classic, yet unprocessed Green Bean Casserole, the alternative to marshmallows Streusel Topped Sweet Potatoes, and the addictive Mustard Cream Brussels Sprouts.

For a sweet touch, enjoy the Baked Pumpkin Custards for breakfast or pour the silky batter into a pie shell to become Pumpkin Pie. Alternatively, the Cranberry Persimmon Parfait with Molasses Pumpkin Granola makes a morning a bit brighter with yogurt or pair it with ice cream (Pumpkin? Salted Caramel? Chocolate? Mmmm… the possibilities!) for an easy dessert.

Got leftover turkey? The Turkey & Cranberry Quesadillas are a simple twist on the classic sandwich, while the Turkey & Pumpkin Soup is not to be missed.

Happy almost Thanksgiving! Don’t forget to get your customized T-Day meal plan!

Cook seasonally. Eat consciously. Live well,

Chef Lilly
