The Food
Chinese New Year is about to begin on February 3rd, so this week and next we will feature dishes to celebrate. We include the Orange Prawn & Rainbow Saute, a shrimp dish considered to bring happiness.
Our feature dish this week are the Spicy Asian Wings, because the Superbowl will be heading our way February 6th and what a way to combine the game day with Chinese New Year. The Long Noodle Stir Fry will guarantee a long life and is tasty hot or cold as leftovers.
To continue our football party mode, we offer a different kind of buffalo wing with Chipotle peppers. Instead of the typical blue cheese dip make it a dressing for a salad tossed with the familiar celery and carrots.
One of our favorite dips is the Squash Nacho Dip. It is mostly blended squash, but no one will know since the savory cheddar and spicy hatch chilies are stronger in flavor. This dip pairs well with Guacamole, Homemade Tortilla Chips and veggie sticks or on top of a Baked Potato with steamed Broccoli.
For the fans of the two champion football teams we have a Cauliflower Cheesehead with a veggie-packed Chili dish for the Packers and Kielbasa with a healthy side of Winter Greens, Apples & Potatoes to make a Steeler’s Fan smile. Take this side with a couple of eggs for nutrient packed breakfast.
Last but not least, we are introducing Sardines to Lilly’s Table. Alton Brown considers them diet food— we just feel this chunky salad with garbanzo beans is sublime. So, if you are time strapped this week and only able to include a few recipes, try this one. It will not disappoint.
Enjoy these first few celebrations of February while incorporating the vegetables of Winter.
