The Food
I have been thrilled with the signs of fall. Maybe it is because I finally had a relatively successful garden or because I keep finding myself letting out a little giggle for those Starbucks ads for the Pumpkin Spice Latte. (Although, has it seriously been ten years? I mostly say this because I honestly have no memory of ever tasting one.)
Or maybe it is because I am living in a new place that is brisk, colorful and decorated with pumpkins, squash, pears, and dark leafy greens luring me towards dishes such as the Roasted Squash & Greens over Sage-Ricotta Pasta with Roasted Pear & Beet Salad. The elegant Fish Almandine with Marsala Squash is also tempting. The Quinoa & Squash Salad is a perfect lunch you can only get this time of year.
But, I cannot deny that there are still some summer delights that need a bit of love, so enjoy the Sausage & Pepper Sauté over Polenta. Use up everything else with the End of Summer Soup and the Roasted Tomato & Kale Salad.
Of course making a trip around the world is always welcome, try the Asian Stir-Fry with Poached Tofu for an easy dinner and an Asian Peanut Slaw for a lovely lunch to take on the go.
And now… breakfast: Imagine a warm glass of something (coffee with a bit of milk for me, you are welcome to tea or even a Pumpkin Spice Latte) cupped in your palms as you look out on the briskness of fall. Then dive into the Egg Spinach Sandwich with Autumn Fruit or one of my favorites of all time the Poached Pears with Spiced Ricotta.
So, join me. Let’s indulge and delight in everything around us this autumn.
