from Cranberry Bok Choy & Tofu Stir Fry with Noodles, the Week of December 4, 2016.
View the previous recipe for this meal.

This almost traditional cranberry sauce is lightly infused with Star Anise and a pinch of Chinese 5 spice which gives a festive, yet Asian inspired bite.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup orange juice, or tangerine juice, freshly squeezed
  • ½ cup cranberry juice
  • 1 cup honey, or maple syrup for a vegan option
  • 3 wholes star anise, pods
  • 4 cups cranberries
  • 1 cup red wine
  • ½ teaspoon chinese 5 spice

Serving Size: 8 People

Preparation Instructions

Combine the orange juice, cranberry juice, honey and star anise, in a saucepan over medium heat.

Bring up to a simmer for about 5 minutes. Once the honey has melted in, add the cranberries, half of the red wine and the Chinese 5 spice.

Simmer for 15 minutes until the cranberries have popped and melded into a thickened sauce. Stir in the rest of the red wine. Taste. Add a pinch more Chinese 5 spice if desired. Remove the Star Anise.

Serve at any temperature.
