The Food
We are announcing an exciting change at Lilly’s Table! You probably weren’t expecting to see this meal plan on a Friday, were you? But, after hearing from several of you, we decided that delivering Sunday’s meal plan to you on Friday morning would give you a couple of extra days to select, shop and prepare. If you were still working on last week’s menu, just click the little grey arrow to the left for any previous meal plans. We hope it will overall makes life a bit easier. Feel free to let us know!
This Wednesday marks the start of Hanukkah. My favorite way to celebrate any holiday is of course with food. The eight day Festival of Lights has a lovely focus on oil with one of the most famous dishes being: latkes. Whether or not you plan to celebrate, try a few variations of these crispy delights, including traditional Latkes with Lox & Beluga Lentils or Sweet Potato Latkes with Applesauce & Pecan Butter. The Sweet Potato Latkes can also serve as the starchy goodness to pair with a Pan Roast Beef Tenderloin with Cranberry Ginger Relish and an easy Apple Pecan Salad.
While technically not named “latkes” these Turnip Fritters are close enough that if you want to continue the latke party with a little root variation, this is the recipe to use. Whip these little guys up with a sautĂ© of their own green tops or your favorite greens such as kale or spinach. Top them with a Runny Egg and enjoy a lovely breakfast of champions.
Got roots? If you have any more turnips, try this Crispy Turnip & Beluga Crostini. This simple recipe also works beautifully with Beet Crisps, just substitute beet greens instead. Feel free to experiment with this Turnip Greens Dip which in many ways is just a scrumptious variation on the more traditional spinach dip.
With all of the hustle and bustle, I have been drawn to one-dish-dinners that can feed us for multiple meals. The Winter Squash Lasagna easily meets this requirement. That being said, the love child of cornbread & a soufflé is the Squash & Jarlsberg Spoonbread. If you are lucky it will come out with a lovely poof, but fluffy or not, it will make you dip, swoon and very happy. It becomes a complete meal with a salad or we just Wilt Greens to top it.
Thank you to everyone who inquired and helped us move up the release date of every weekly meal plan. Please let us know if there is any way we can be of further service to you! We want your meal planning experience to be smooth & silky.
