New Years is one of my favorite meal plans to write as it is full of hidden meaning and superstitions that are a playful delight as you set resolutions or consider the possibilities. Depending on what you are seeking in the new year, consume accordingly:
Financial abundance: Broad wide greens are similar to dollar bills. Consume as many as you desire including Collards, Mascarpone Greens, Apple Fennel Blue Cheese Salad and Gruyere Apple Salad.
Small beans are similar to coins and ingesting a plentitude will guarantee prosperity. The traditional favorite of Black-Eyed Peas will do the trick. Deviate from the obvious with French Lentils and then whirl them into a Lentil Pate for lunch with Fennel Crackers.
Anything with a bright yellow appearance similar to gold also holds weight as representing abundance. The Charred Ginger Squash Soup is as golden as possible. Top it with the Mushroom-Kale Saute and dip in some Socca.
Growth and Moving Forward:
Pigs root and move forward, marking them as the perfect food to represent getting ahead this year. Last week’s Amaretti Ham is a fancy choice, but also slices in the Spanish Squash Biscuits or for breakfast with Eggs and Mascarpone Greens are a great way to start 2017.
Whole Fish represents not only a whole life, but with fish swimming forward it will take you far this year. Pair this fish with the Fennel Scalloped Potatoes and the Citrus Avocado Salad for a beautiful dinner.
Connection: Gathering around a Fondue Pot is the ideal way to start your year with the intention to build community and the love around you. Pair it with a salad and it is also a surprisingly easy, yet celebratory dinner on the big night.
Party + adventure: Finally, Granola Drops are so similar to the big ball that drops at midnight. Enjoy these while watching the festivities or as a snack after that work out you are committing to in the New Year. ;-)
Cook seasonally. Eat consciously. With love for 2017,
